Dear Parents,

I can't believe that summer has zoomed by.  I am so excited to meet all of my new students.  Seeing their eager, happy faces as they begin their school experience is always a blessing for me.  If you have any questions throughout the year you may e-mail me at lprice@richmondchristian.com.  Please remember to keep our class in your prayers.  I look forward to working with you and your child.

Bible Verse for this week

"Show me Your ways, O Lord."

-Psalm 25:4

Please remember to practice your Bible verse daily at home, as we will be saying in on Friday for a grade.  Thank you.

In Bible this week:

We will learn that God talked to others long ago.  We will also learn that He talks to us today in the Bible.  And, we will learn that the Bible is the best Book.

In Phonics this week:

We will introduce the letter Ii (its formation and sound) and the letter Oo.

In Math this week:

We will begin with recognizing numbers 1 - 6.  We will also be working with one-to-one correspondence with these numerals (counting objects in a set and matching it to numbers 1,2,3,4,5, or 6).  We will counting to 20.

In Handwriting this week:

We will begin by strengthening our fingers by tracing lines.  Then we will be writing the letter Ii.  We will focus on nice, smooth motions and sitting our letters on the line.  Small motor skills, such as writing, can be challenging to some students.  Please watch for papers coming home and work with your child on any corrections that have been made.  Remember practice makes perfect!

Fun Friday this week:

On Monday through Thursday, we will be spending larger blocks of time on Phonics and Mathmatics.  On Fridays, we will cover science and/or social studies.  We call this day Fun Friday.

This week we will be exploring fish.
