Parent Letter - 5/9/25
Dear Parents and Families of RCS,
Author Jim George is credited with saying, “It is not how you start that is important, it’s how you finish.” The Bible is filled with applicable scripture. As God is the beginning and end of all things, we read in Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” For God, the end and the beginning are part of His eternal plan. For us, however, the journey may be uncertain, but the end is already known for us as believers. In James 1:12, we read, “Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.” When our time on earth is done, there is an eternity waiting for everyone. For the believer, it is an eternity in heaven with Christ. For the unbeliever, it is eternity shut out entirely from Christ.
So, what do we do in the meantime? For 12th graders, a significant transition is about to take place. Two weeks from today, they will close the chapter on high school to open a new one. For everyone else, the last day of school ushers in summer break and pools, picnics, travel, and time with family. However, there is much to accomplish from now to then, which we can only do in Christ’s strength. Here are a few scriptures that will hopefully help sustain us in the days ahead:
- Philippians 3:14 - I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
- Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
- Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
- Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
