Weekly Parent Letter

September 11, 2026
By Bill Sharp

Good Afternoon, Warrior Nation,

There are tragic days in history that become etched in our memories—days when we can recall exactly where we were and what we were doing. September 11 is one of those days.

Today marks 25 years since our nation and the world watched in shock as four commercial airliners were hijacked and used for a truly evil purpose against civilian and government targets. By the end of that terrible day, 2,977 mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, friends and neighbors had been taken from us.

Yet, in the midst of the darkness, we also remember the light—the first responders who ran toward danger, strangers who became family, and countless acts of courage, compassion, and sacrifice that reminded us what it means to love our neighbor.

As a school family rooted in faith, we hold tightly to the truth of Psalm 34:18:  “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”

As we remember September 11, let us also reflect on this year’s theme: Thankfulness. We are thankful for the freedom to worship our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are thankful to be part of a school community that cares deeply for every person in our buildings and the families they represent. And we are thankful for the opportunity to shine the light of Christ to one another and to a lost and dark world.

Keep the faith, fight the good fight, and never forget.

Giving Day & This Year’s Fundraising Goals

Over the past several years, we have worked to better organize our fundraising efforts—making them more efficient and goal-specific, reducing donor fatigue, and giving Warrior Nation a common rallying point around the needs of our school.

This year, our fundraising efforts will focus on three specific needs:

  • New buses for student transportation
  • New carpet throughout our buildings
  • New high school lockers to replace our older, worn-out lockers

We will kick off this year’s fundraising campaign on Monday, September 14, with our first annual Giving Day, followed by additional opportunities to participate throughout the school year.

We ask each member of Warrior Nation to prayerfully consider how the Lord may lead you to help:

  1. Pray — Pray that God will provide the resources needed to accomplish these projects.
  2. Share — Invite friends, family members, and local businesses to join us in supporting RCS.
  3. Give — Give as the Lord leads you. Consider this: if every family in Warrior Nation gave just $250, together we would raise approximately $64,000! Gifts can be made as a one-time contribution or spread out over the school year.

If you know business owners or community partners in the Richmond area who may be interested in supporting RCS, please share their contact information with us. We would be happy to reach out personally and share our school’s needs and vision with them.

Friday Fund-day

Finally, if you haven’t already, please take a moment to watch my short video from earlier today introducing our Friday Fund-day activity, which kicks off next Friday.

Thank you in advance for your prayers, generosity, and continued partnership with Richmond Christian School. Together, we have the privilege of continuing our mission to:  Educate Hearts and Minds for Christ!

All For Him,

Bill Sharp
