Parent Letter - 4/25/25

April 25, 2025
By Bill Sharp

Dear Parents and Families of RCS,

One of my favorite topics in the Bible is that of God’s provision.  Provision is not abundance or excess; it provides what is necessary to accomplish a task or mission.  In my time at RCS, I have seen countless examples of God’s provision for our school and community.  One area of provision is staffing.  As many of you know, we have added K-4 Preschool as part of our academic program, coming this fall.  I am excited to share that God has provided us with a fabulous new teacher to fill the role of K-4 classroom teacher – Mrs. Heather Stainback.

Mrs. Stainback joins Warrior Nation with 6 years of classroom experience and years of experience homeschooling her own children.  Outside of teaching, Mrs. Stainback plays the flute, sings in her church choir, and enjoys crafting and working on her small business, Heartfelt Designs, where she creates t-shirts, tumblers, and wristlet keychains. She loves Starbucks Caramel Frappuccinos and spending time with her family.  Welcome to Warrior Nation, Mrs. Stainback!!

If you have a student who will be turning 4 by this fall or is currently 4, we encourage you to go to the website and apply for enrollment in the preschool program. We have full-day and half-day options available. Currently, there are still open seats, but we expect them to begin filling quickly. Don’t miss out!

Don’t forget that next week is our spring Iowa Assessments week.  Please encourage your students to get a lot of rest, eat a good breakfast, and give their best effort each day.  Students were reminded that the purpose of the assessments is not to evaluate teachers, but to assess student progress and what they have retained throughout the year.  Once the results come back, we will send individual reports to parents so you can see how your students performed.  Teachers and administrators will look at class results to determine strengths in our program and identify areas to improve.

Other notable events in the next couple of weeks, culminating in our Commencement on 23 May, include:

  • Elementary Field Day – Friday, 2 May
  • Middle School King’s Dominion Trip – Friday, 9 May
  • Secondary Sports Banquet – Monday, 12 May (starting at 5:00 p.m.)

Thank you so much to those who have expressed many thoughtful and encouraging words in the past few weeks.  Your partnership and support are incredibly precious to us, and it is an honor to serve you and your students!

Blessings,

Bill Sharp, M.Ed.
