Weekly Parent Letter

Dear Parents and Families of RCS,
You don’t have to look far to see the darkness in the world. This is why having and sharing the Light is so critical to our own and others' well-being. Here are four commands from God’s Word regarding the strengthening of others:
- Mutual upbuilding. 1 Thes. 5:11 says “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing”. We see many churches that use the “better together” motto, and for good reason. We ARE better together. Isolation is terminal. God created us to be connected to Him and His body.
- Daily encouragement. Hebrews 3:13 says, “But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today’, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” Just like we don’t eat one meal on Sunday and are good for the week, we need that daily encouragement from each other. Many times, the apostle Paul wrote to the churches in Asia Minor either from prison (or after being imprisoned and beaten) to encourage and uplift the body of Christ.
- Spurring Growth. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another – and all the more as you see the day approaching.” When we encourage each other to be better versions of ourselves, it helps us grow internally and expand our influence for the kingdom.
- Bearing burdens. “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6:2). It is all about community. We struggle and celebrate together. As a Christian school community, this should be evident in every division and at every opportunity. At the same time, we should expect that when we are inappropriate in our thoughts, words, and actions, we will be open to being redirected in love back to Christ.
These are reasons “Why” we are here. Some more of the “What” we do at RCS include:
- Having smaller classes – this helps keep a more focused environment and allows for more individualized attention to students.
- Academic rigor – pushing our students towards excellence makes them, and us, better.
- Partnership with parents – Bottom line, we can’t do what we do without you. Always seek ways to encourage and bless others, encourage teachers and administrators, and find ways to contribute your time and talents to lighten the load.
Remember, re-enrollment continues only for current families until 1 Feb. Starting on 2 Feb., we will open enrollment to prospective families on a first-come, first-served basis. Please don’t wait; I don’t want any of our current families on the outside looking in because the seats in their grade were filled before they re-enrolled!
Blessings,
