Weekly Parent Letter - 8/12/22

August 12, 2022
By Bill Sharp

Dear Parents and Families of RCS,

I remember a few years ago, a commercial on TV about a family at the dinner table where the parents asked their student, "What did you do at school today?" to which he replied, "we did this, then that was over…then we did that, then that was over…" It is easy for us as adults to look at the tasks before us and view them in the same way; finishing a task and saying "then that was over" so we can move on to the next task.  When we place a focus on God in the task, it takes on a whole new purpose.  We do it as unto Him, not as unto our checklist.  Psalm 40:8 says, "I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart." As we make plans and preparations for the coming year, let us delight in doing God's will in all we seek to accomplish, knowing His way and plan are perfect.

A sincere, heartfelt "thank you" is to the parents and families that volunteered time and food to make our new teachers feel incredibly welcome to Warrior Nation.  If this type of service interests you, please reach out to Mrs. Patton, the Elementary Principal, to see if there are plans and needs for next week when all staff are back on campus.

Speaking of next week, here are some upcoming events to note:

  • Orientations
    • Kindergarten – Friday, 19 August at 4:00 p.m. in the library

Weekly Parent Letter - 8/5/22

Dear Parents and Families of RCS,

In just over two weeks, the campus will again be teeming with student, parent, and teacher activity as we kick off the 2022-2023 school year. It has been a blessing-filled summer with all God has accomplished through maintenance, repair, cleanup, and staffing.

Two weeks ago, I happily reported that RCS was fully staffed with teachers, and in just days, that changed. Today, I am again pleased to say that God has brought two great additions to the Warrior Nation teaching staff. Mr. Justin Robinson, a native of Richmond, will be teaching K-12 PE. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Chowan University in Exercise Science, with a minor in Coaching. Mr. Luke Pride, originally from New Hampshire, will be taking over high school History and Bible classes. His teaching experience includes time in China and Brazil, and he works in Florida. Mr. Pride has two Master’s degrees – one is Christian Formation and Ministry, and the other is a Master of Divinity degree. Welcome aboard, Mr. Robinson and Mr. Pride!! Please be in prayer for our New Staff Orientation that will take place next week, followed by our Staff Work Week the following week.

Here are some upcoming events to note:

  • Orientations
    • Kindergarten – Friday, 19 August at 4:00 p.m. in the library
    • New Secondary (6-12) Students – Friday, 19 August, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Please note the change in start time for this event.
  • Warrior Welcome (K-12 students and their families) – Friday, 19 August, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the back of the school. Food, fun, and fellowship. More details to follow. NOTE: This is an outdoor event.
  • Meet and Greet Day – Monday, 22 August. A chance to come by during your designated time slot to meet teachers, drop off supplies, get locker assignments (7-12), and other information (schedules, parking passes, etc.). Please attend during the times below (it’s not necessary to stay for the entire time):
    • 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. – Last names A – I
    • 10:30 – 12:00 – Last names J – R
    • 1:30 – 3:00 – Last names S – Z

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings so that we may also share in his glory.”  Romans 8:16-17

Weekly Parent Letter - 7/29/22

July 29, 2022

Dear Parents and Families of RCS,

As August looms around the corner, I would like to give you a quick update on the past couple of weeks and look forward to what is coming in the days ahead.

We were incredibly blessed to spend the week hosting a mission team from Quakertown, PA. They came to RCS and spent five days cleaning, painting, repairing, digging, and even some demolition work to help get the school ready for the 2022-23 school year.  The team of 22 adults and teens stayed on campus and worked incredibly hard (even in the awful heat) to get buildings painted, windows repaired, showers divided in the boy’s locker room, lights upgraded to LED, electrical work, and other outdoor projects that were on our “summer list.”  We are SUPER grateful for this team and their hard work, and we are excited that they are considering coming again next summer!  Also, we once again have the privilege to partner with a team from Village Church who will be on campus tomorrow (30 July) to paint a couple of classrooms.  Please be in prayer for their safety and energy as they come to minister to Warrior Nation.

Here are some upcoming events to note:

  • Orientations
    • Kindergarten – Friday, 19 August at 4:00 p.m. in the library
    • New Secondary (6-12) Students – Friday, 19 August, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the cafeteria
  • Warrior Welcome (K-12) – Friday, 19 August, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the back of the school.  Food, fun, and fellowship with be on the menu.  More details to follow.  NOTE:  This will be an outdoor event.
  • Meet and Greet Day – Monday, 22 August.  A chance to come by during your designated time slot to meet teachers, drop off supplies, get locker assignments (7-12), and other information (like schedules, parking passes, etc.). Please attend during the times below (it’s not necessary to stay for the entire time):
    • 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. – Last names A – I
    • 10:30 – 12:00 – Last names J – R
    • 1:30 – 3:00 – Last names S – Z

As we make final plans in preparation for a new school year, remember the words of the prophet Isaiah: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”  Is. 40:31. Be renewed in the Lord as we anticipate the great things God will do this coming year!!

Blessings,

Bill Sharp, M.Ed.
