Drama

Students discover and implement elements of theater such as characterization, blocking, setting, plot development, stage movement, light, sound, props, hair, make-up, costuming, etc.  We emphasize creativity, collaboration, and perseverance.  Areas covered include theater vocabulary, roles in the theater, movement, acting, the reading of plays, and viewing theatre performances.  Students will create projects throughout the year in groups and study basic principles of drama, including character analysis, textual interpretation, voice, movement, collaboration, improvisation, and critical performance analysis.  Additionally, students gain a working knowledge of theater history and the multiple forms of theatrical performance.
