Parent Letter - 9/19/25
Dear Parents and Families of RCS,
As I sit here in my office, the window open, birds singing, a slight cool breeze blowing in, I am in awe of God’s perfection and beauty in creation. I am thankful for His Word and the life lessons and direction it provides us as believers. Over the past two weeks, we have looked at stories in the Old Testament that provided these simple truths:
- We fight our battles in the Lord’s strength, not our own, and
- We don’t fight them alone – that God brings others to our aid in our time of need.
This week, we look at the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles chapter 20. The king was told that a massive army was coming to destroy his people, and he was initially afraid. I find it interesting that a king in command of an army of one million soldiers would be concerned – that tells you how big that enemy must have been. Rather than cower in fear, he went to the Lord. God’s response led to this, found in verse 21: “After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying ‘Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.’”
Imagine going into battle against a massive, armed enemy and placing the worship team at the front!! God’s response, though, was one that only He can do. As they marched and sang, the enemy armies turned on each other and destroyed themselves. When the Israelites got to the battlefield, the entire army was already destroyed, and it took them three days to gather the plunder.
I believe God wants you to embrace this truth – Praise God in the midst of the battle and trust him for victory. None of us is immune to challenges and struggles. Sometimes, they may feel completely overwhelming, or there might not be an answer readily visible in front of us. But remember, saint, everything we encounter is already known to God, and he has already laid out a path for us to walk. Remember what God promised in Deuteronomy 31:6-8: “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Sorry for the confusion last week regarding the See You At The Pole event coming up this Wednesday, 24 September. The student-led prayer and praise event starts at 7:00 a.m., with breakfast to follow at 7:30 in the cafeteria. Please join if you can as we lift our school, community, nation, and world in prayer. We will gather at 7:00 am around the flagpoles in front of the school.
With the close of this week, we are officially halfway through the first quarter. Please continue to track your student’s progress in the FACTS Family Portal and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns. While teacher conferences are scheduled for 3 November, you are encouraged to meet with individual teachers at any time if you have concerns.
Thank you for all you do in supporting our efforts to Educate Hearts and Minds For Christ!
Blessings,
